THE WHISTLER CUP is an international ski event organized by the Whistler Ski Club and hosted by Whistler-Blackcomb. Having completed its  16th year, Whistler Cup has grown to become the largest and most important ski race in North America, and internationally, for athletes aged 11 – 14 years. It is held under the auspice of FIS, the international governing body for alpine skiing. With over 390 young athletes from 17 countries, Whistler Cup brings together children from many different cultures, from around the world.  With the 2010 Olympics fast approaching, Whistler Cup is the must attend race for athletes and sponsors not only in the US and Canada, but around the world. For many of our young Canadian athletes, this is the first opportunity they have to meet and ski with the world’s best.

The 17th edition of the Whistler Cup will be held on April 10, 11, and 12, 2009.  Come and join us!

A Huge Thank-You to All the Volunteers at Whistler Cup 2008
Thursday, April 10, 2008

Wayne Holm, Event Chair sends out thanks to all volunters on behalf of the Race Organizing Committee.

An event of this magnitude could not happen without the countless volunteer hours.  Wayne received many compliments including:

  • One from a media member who attended the world Cup, the Nationals, Pontiac series. Her comment was that this was by far the best run of all the events she attended . And what really stood out for her is that she could not believe the level of commitment of the whole WMSC club.
  • From Michael Huber the Austrian TD who has been all over Europe with many events with bigger budgets and longer running races: He felt Whistler Cup would rank in the very top 2 or 3 events.
  • Last but not least from the coach and team Nova Scotia: The coach said on Sat. night that his team had been non-stop smiling since they arrived. Each athlete came up to sponsors table to thank sponsors and organizers and were the humble and engaging kids. It was pure joy to see how much fun they were having and how excited they were to be participating.

Thank you one and all and see you all next year April 10 th to 12th for Whistler 2009.
